SusNex Selected by ActionAid Bangladesh & BGMEA to Develop HREDD Guidelines for Bangladesh’s RMG Sector
The Sustainability Nexus (SusNex) Ltd. is excited to announce that we have been selected by ActionAid Bangladesh to develop the Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) Guidelines (Playbook) and HREDD Risk Assessment Toolkit for Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector.
Implemented in close collaboration with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), this initiative aims to strengthen responsible business practices by providing practical guidance and risk assessment tools to help organizations identify, prevent, mitigate, and address human rights and environmental risks across their operations and value chains.
Enhancing Due Diligence & Regulatory Alignment
The project will contribute to enhancing due diligence practices in alignment with internationally recognized frameworks—such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP), OECD Guidelines, and evolving regulatory expectations like the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)—helping build a more transparent, resilient, and sustainable RMG sector in Bangladesh.
Key pillars of the HREDD Guidelines & Risk Assessment Toolkit include:
- Risk Identification & Assessment: Practical toolkits for evaluating human rights, workplace safety, labor conditions, and environmental impacts across facility operations and value chains.
- Prevention & Mitigation Playbook: Actionable protocols for establishing grievance mechanisms, corrective action plans, and continuous risk monitoring.
- Stakeholder & Supply Chain Collaboration: Strengthening capacity among factory management, worker representatives, brands, and civil society partners to ensure sustainable conduct.
